2020 Began
Hannah and Nicole began to expand their reach on social media and throughout the community. They hosted their first fundraising campaign in the winter of 2019 called “Making it Merry”. Through the fundraiser they were able to sponsor two local families in need for the holidays. Once the new year began they had big plans to expand their outreach and start hosting in-person events.
Along came March of 2020. No events were being planned, everyone was feeling stuck at home and Hannah and Nicole were determined to spread some positivity as much as possible. They released encouraging podcast episodes with inspiring Minnesotans and provided ideas of fun things to do at home. They saw all the small businesses struggling around them and wanted to help.
In May of 2020 the world watched in horror as George Floyd was murdered. Hannah immediately connected with Anahita Champion from Twin Cities Mom Squad and brainstormed ideas of what they could do to make a difference and Moms on a Mission was born. Throughout the next 6 months MomsDishMN and Twin Cities Mom Squad coordinated a fundraiser to raise over $10,000 for local BIPOC organizations in need. They shared resources on being a better ally to marginalized communities and acknowledged the need to be more vocal about their values. Through the support of dozens of small businesses in the Twin Cities, the fundraiser was a huge success. Their village of like-minded Minnesotans had grown substantially. Like many others in 2020, Hannah started to question her career choices and began to think seriously about growing MomsDishMN into a business and creating ways to help other local entrepreneurs succeed!
